Ah, Cannes … It is the festival par excellence of the year with a week of photo-calls, dinners, projections and parties that take place on the Mediterranean coast of one of the most beautiful countries in the world, France. Cannes has not only become synonymous with great cinema, but has become known as the event to give a 'look at the celebrities in their best clothes.

This year was not different. While thousands of celebrities crowded on the breezy coast, thousands of paparazzi followed them to take pictures of their couture dresses and tuxedos, and with skilfully made hair and make-up. And, since we love fangirling on new beauty trends, we simply had to look for looks for our readers.

Following are the looks that have exceeded the limits of red carpet makeup, have taken on a life of their own or have accentuated the personality of the celebrity who wore them. These are the looks that we would like to try, but more importantly, look at the love.

To enjoy!

1. Blake Lively

The look of Blake Lively screams spring with a healthy bronze-colored skin and reddened pink lips. Feeling as if we had never seen her on the red carpet ever since, it's nice to know that Mrs. Reynolds' style game is as usual.

2. Soko

We loved each other Soko of Look inspired by the Victorian era. The minimal base with taupe makeup works well on her light skin and her dark weight. Overall, it was a nice look for Cannes.

3. Susan Sarandon

After all these years, Susan Sarandon has still understood. While this icon always dazzles on the red carpet, we had to put it on this list for those styling glasses alone. We're not sure what the background is on them or if Miss Sarandon was trying to hide the blue eye shadow, but whatever the reason, we're digging it up.

4. Caitriona Balfe

Caitriona Balfe was brought back to the pink lip and we like it! | Image via POPSUGAR

Do not underestimate the power of a pink lip, sir. Caitriona demonstrated that theory as a fact with its minimalist appearance, whose main characteristic was a bold pink lip. What we also love about the appearance of Caitriona is her French braid with side handkerchiefs. This is definitely the aspect to recreate for spring.

5. Kirsten Dunst

Red + Yellow is not just a fantastic combination of toppings, it's a fantastic combination of outfits. | Image via POPSUGAR

I'm a big fan of Kirsten Dunst. And I'm not a fan of his style or his beauty choices (which are always punctual and uniquely Kirsten), I'm a fan of his acting. I loved it in Virgin Suicides and Melancholia and God, I just wish she were more! Anyway, I'm digressing … Kirsten Dunst killed at the festival this year with a retro yellow dress and classic red lip. This shows that red and yellow are always a good combination of colors.

6. Kristen Stewart

The platinum blonde was one of the best stylistic choices that Kristen Stewart has ever done. The bold color in fashion accentuates his style and his individual attitude. At the festival of this year, Kristen has danced a classic grunge duo: platinum blonde hair and smokey kohl eyes. The look is very Saint Laurent and we love it.

7. Jessica Chastain

Whoa, Jessica Chastain was channeling some serious vibrations of Jessica Rabbit with her old Hollywood waves and her lively red lip. We love the contrast between her red lip and the blue dress – it's a surprising combination on her skin tone.

8. Melanie Thierry

This is what we call #flawless. | Image via Vogue

Melanie Thierry has challenged the red carpet fashion with her super-minimal (we do not even think she has made up) Cannes looks. Somehow she managed to make #IWokeUpLikeThis look #RedCarpetReady with her knot in disorder and naked skin.

9. Lily Donaldson

Big lip, now wrong of the year. But she still looked beautiful! | Image via Vogue

While this look is a little too dark for our tastes (it's spring!), I can never resist a good dark lip and what Lily Donaldson wore on the red carpet is a good dark lip. The look would have been perfect for the autumn or for an event that was not on the Franco-Mediterranean shore, open with natural and bright light. Do you know what we are saying?

10. Tanya Dyagileva

Work with him, girl! | Image via Vogue

The artist Tanya Dyagileva has brought fire, is not it? Whereas most of the actresses, apart from Eva Longoria, adhered to a natural look, without makeup, Tanya said "Eff it!" And he opted for a dark smokey eye, mauve lips and killer side braids. We love the drama of this whole aspect when pulled together, brings.

11. Aymeline Valade

Aymeline flaunted a beautiful androgynous look at this year's Cannes. | Image via Vogue

French model Aymeline Valade has channeled some of Marlene Dietrich's thrilling emotions into her androgynous and powerful look of the Cannes Film Festival. She kept her hair and make-up simple, but combined a dazzling woman tuxedo with dangling earrings. The contrast between the tuxedo structure and the femininity of the earrings is brilliant. This was one of our favorite looks of the festival.
